I can think of only one downside of eating sprouts and that's for people who have issues with roughage, which I hope isn't your issue.

All sprouts in their first few days are loaded with chlorophyll (esp if you expose the sprouts to sunlight for a couple of hours at least before eating) and are incredibly low on the glycemic charts unlike legumes particularly when they are cooked. And yes, it's a good practice to always at least rinse your sprouts before eating. They have a tendency to grow e-coli.

To tell if e-coli is growing when you're using a sprouting jar, fill the jar with water from a tap with good water and see if the sprouts get a bit foamy. If so, just drop in a half-teaspoon or so peroxide and let stand a few minutes and then rinse thoroughly. I've never had to add peroxide each rinse time, but then I'm careful about sprouting and covering the jars and rinsing regularly. Have fun with sprouting!Cheryl Magnanthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10501321880519345663noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-581659919456100736.post-18497327291682483922018-06-10T09:38:32.598+09:002018-06-10T09:38:32.598+09:00Dear Cheryl,
Thank you for the informative and he...Dear Cheryl,

Thank you for the informative and helpful article. I've started actively sprouting this year to hopefully nourish my body, make my menu more nutritious and to walk away from animal protein. Are mung bean and pea sprouts part of your regular anti candida diet? I would love to do it, but I do worry about glycemic aspect. I'm sure sprouts have less sugar in comparison to dry beans. Do you have any mucousy reaction to those types of legume sprouts? And when you refrigerate your harvested and washed sprouts of any kind for 3-4 days, do you have to wash every portion them again before serving ( would you add peroxide to water?) or just enjoy them right from the refrigerator?
Thank you very much, and have a great summer,

Valentyna.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
